In November 1927 Adelard T (A.T.) and Emma E.Belair and their two children, Henry and Lorene (5 and 9) came to Kennewick from Prosser, WA.  They purchased the Haas Bakery (later renamed Belair’s Bakery.) The bakery grew from a small wholesale and retail outlet to a large distributor of bakery products with a daily output of about 5000 loaves per day during the war years of 1941-45. In 1946 Henry, after service in the Navy, returned to the bakery, bringing his wife Jeanne and infant son Roger. Two other sons were born--Randal in 1949 and Ronald in 1955. After A.T.’s death in 1955, business management fell to Henry, eventually converting to strictly retail sales. OnEmma’s death in 1963 Henry and Jeanne assumed ownership. The bakery became a restaurant, renamed O’ Henry’s. Specialties ranging from O’ Henry’s big, juicy burgers, deli sandwiches, home made soups and pies to Aunt Eda’s chili were offered in a quaint American decor. Memories of the good ole days prevaled with exhibits of WWII clippings and mementos, to class pictures of Kennewick High School graduates, and photos of many celebrities. In 1983 Henry added the outdoor garden court.

In 1984 we really became famous with our over-60 go go girls. This fun idea caught national and international attention--from CBS Morning News to the Wall Street Journal, Paul Harvey and world wide Stars and Stripes. Henry Belair’s go go girls were a hot news item!
