The Moore Mansion was built in 1908 by Seattle business man James Moore. Moore intended the Big House on the Columbia to be home for him and his  ill wife, but Mrs. Moore died before the house was finished. The property was sold to the Carstens family, who farmed there until the 1920s. In following years the Mansion, on the National Register of Historic Places, housed a nightclub, a speakeasy, nursing home and a fine restaurant. An arson fire gutted the building in May of 2001. It was restored by Debra and Brad Peck.
